Course Description:

'' The M. S. Taxation is offered on a "cohort" basis. This means that each group of individuals starting the program at a particular time will take classes together. The duration of the program is 24 months.

Classes are held one evening during the week, 5:30 - 9 p.m. Additional Saturday classes are scheduled intermittently, usually for examinations. A class term consists of 11 classes given in a nine-week period. To accommodate tax compliance professionals, there is a hiatus between the third week of March and the end of April, and many of the winter classes are held online.

Tuition for the program is $2,250 per course. Tuition includes the cost of books and meals during classes. In addition, students will have local and remote access to a full range of online research services. The online services currently available include CCH, RIA, BNA, and Lexis-Nexis.

Although the cohort format for this program is new, the program itself dates back two decades. The graduates of the program are among the most successful of the UNH alumni. Most of the graduates are employed in the highest level executive positions or are partners in local, regional, and/or international CPA firms. The technical reputation of the program in the marketplace is outstanding among members of the CPA profession and tax departments of major corporations throughout the state. Alumni of the program are the largest referral source of new students to the program.

While the program attracts a wide range of accountants, attorneys, executives, and government employees, it is of special interest to individuals hoping to become CPAs. Connecticut law now requires CPA candidates to complete 150 academic credit hours of coursework in order to qualify to sit for the CPA exam. This program provides needed credit hours, while enabling the candidate to attain a Master’s Degree.
