Course Description:
'' The Interactive Information Technology program is unique to the University of Hartford, and combines courses across several disciplines. Unlike a traditional IT program, IIT students take courses in areas such as business, technical writing, communication, and psychology, along with core courses in web development and Internet programming. This enables IIT students to not only pursue careers in traditional information technology roles, such as network administration, but also in areas such as multi-media development, web application programming, usability testing, technical writing, Internet marketing, and more. The "Interactive" element of the program means that students create and use technology with user interaction in mind -- IIT students are more than just programmers.
A key component of the program is the specialization that each student picks in their sophomore year. Specializations supplement each students core IIT courses by allowing them to focus on a particular area of interest. For example, a student in the Media Arts specialization will take a series of art and design courses, while a student specializing in Network Administration will take courses in networking, MIS, and computer science. Each specialization is comprised of five courses, and new choices are added each year as technologies change. Students may also design their own specialization by meeting with an advisor and getting approval from the IIT faculty. ...''
