'' If you are a registered nurse who plans to return to school to complete your baccalaureate degree, our program is designed for you. It allows you to complete your BSN degree on a part-time basis in a supportive, caring atmosphere with your peers. Courses generally meet one evening per week in late afternoon or evening. Community-oriented clinical placements occur in the final two semesters and are designed to accommodate various working schedules.
As a transfer student from a diploma or an associate degree program in nursing, you enter the University of Hartford with 60 or more credits earned toward your BSN. However, we recognize that you bring much more than prior college credits to our program. Therefore, your clinical experiences and those of your classmates are a vital component of our curriculum and valued by our nursing faculty. Our faculty encourage you to bring patient care issues to the classroom and classroom learning to the workplace.

The RN to BSN program was the first completion program in Connecticut. Our focus has always been oriented to the adult learner. Dr. Arthur Chickering, internationally known for his work in adult education, has taught us that "Adult learners are those people for whom being a student is not their primary role." Therefore, we are always looking for ways to facilitate advanced study for nurses that takes into account their unique needs as individuals and professionals as we strive to create a Community of Scholarly Caring.

The Nursing Program at the University of Hartford is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the State of Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education.
