'' This one-year Legal Secretary Certificate Program provides students with a broad understanding of Connecticut law and the American legal system.

Students become proficient in speedwriting/transcription, word processing with legal documents, internet research, legal terminology and law office procedures, as well as other selected assistant course areas.

In addition to assisting in the preparation of court papers, legal documents (i.e. real estate, probate, civil or criminal litigation) and correspondence, students will use computers to maintain research materials, libraries, files and financial records.

During the spring semester students are placed in law officers for legal work experience.

Students will be prepared to work as legal secretaries in law offices, legal departments of large commercial concerns and legal bureaus of the government. ...''
