Course Description:

'' This two day course covers the principles of project risk management. “Risk�is a set of unknowns that may include both threats and opportunities. The successful project manager should know how to anticipate and respond effectively to both positive and negative risks.



After establishing some common “Project Management�ground, this course will take participants through the six step risk management process: Risk Management Planning; Risk Identification; Qualitative Risk Management; Quantitative Risk Management; Risk Response Planning, and Risk Monitoring & Control. The course employs the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) terminology and covers processes & knowledge areas that are consistent with “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide®).�


Course instruction will be supplemented with real-world examples, team exercises and case studies to demonstrate risk evaluation techniques, contingency plan development, and risk response strategies.





Intended Audience:

Project managers, program managers, executive sponsors, project leaders, key stakeholders and critical project team members who wish to learn proven techniques for anticipating and managing uncertainty throughout the project life cycle. These principles can be applied to projects in any industry or functional area.



Prerequisites:

Participant should have completed the Project Management Overview or a similar introductory course.



Student Responsibilities:

In order for a class to be successful, all students should share the same general level of knowledge and experience. If a participant does not demonstrate these, the CITI instructor will take the necessary steps either to prepare the participant or place him/her in a more appropriate course. This policy is intended to maintain the high level of quality control that you have come to expect from CITI.
