'' The Automotive Technology program at the Owens Campus gives students practical, hands-on training to prepare them for careers in the automotive service industry. As a NATEF/ASE Master Certified program, it meets the highest industry-approved standards for curriculum, instruction, and training equipment and systems. Each of these areas is reviewed, evaluated, and improved on an ongoing basis to ensure that it meets current industry needs and anticipates future ones. Our goal is to prepare today the automotive technicians of tomorrow.

Students may choose to complete a certificate or diploma option or a more advanced associate degree program. Through systematic core course instruction, technical course instruction, and completion of required lab tasks, associate degree graduates will learn to successfully utilize electronic information systems, specialized diagnostic tools, and other equipment to diagnose and repair state-of-the-art vehicles. Both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs will be addressed. Available courses in customer service relations and parts/service management prepare students to be well qualified for a variety of different positions.

Graduates of the certificate program, who must be at a college academic level, will be able to enter the automotive industry as technician assistants, or, by meeting certain requirements, may transfer their earned credits toward the associate degree program. Diploma option students, required to successfully complete technical support courses along with basic automotive service instruction, may quickly enter the industry as a mechanic’s helper or continue their studies toward an associate degree.
