Course Description:
'' This course is designed to prepare students for the Windows 2000 MCSE track by exposing them to network technologies. Students will learn about network topologies, network architectures, as well as network protocols. This very intense, hands on course will have the students physically build a network from the ground up. Students will install an operating system, configure a network adapter, install and configure the protocols necessary for network communication, and install network cables and hubs. Students will even configure communication between networks. As TCP/IP is the primary protocol used in networks today a thorough overview of TCP/IP and its related protocols and services will be discussed. At course completion students will have extensive knowledge of the PING, IPCONFIG, ARP, TRACERT, and NETSTAT and other TCP/IP related commands.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe basic networking and identify different networking models Describe the basics of data movement, physical media, and network connectivity devices Use the OSI model and understand Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, and wireless networks Understand data routing and common network protocols such as NetBEUI and TCP/IP Discover a TCP/IP services Understand older network protocols still used today, such as IPX/SPX, AppleTalk, Apple Open Transport, and IPv6 Examine the infrastructure of a local area network Distinguish the different methods used to connect networks together through the public carrier services Understand the different methods of remote networking Understand and implement relevant aspects of network security Apply disaster recovery principles Describe and employ advanced data storage techniques Understand and implement network troubleshooting procedures Describe the basics of the network operating systems in use today ...''
