'' The publishing industry has experienced rapid change in recent years and, given current developments in the global communication and media industries, this rate of change is set to increase.

The publishing and journalistic skills developed by this course are those sought by employers in magazine, newspaper, free-sheet and online news publishing. Such sectors are particularly fast-growing areas of the publishing industry in the UK.

The MSc Publishing with Journalism is designed for those who are looking to commence or advance their career in the periodicals publishing industry, but may not have relevant professional qualifications.

The course encourages students to continually update their knowledge and understanding of both traditional and contemporary publishing media and methods. Students benefit from staff with expertise in all areas of publishing and communication. The School has excellent links with professional organisations and, because of these, the Aberdeen Business School Placement Office consistently finds suitable placements (4 weeks) for our students.

Course Structure
The course may be undertaken and completed in 12 months. Alternatively, study may be on a part-time basis, on-campus, with Certificate stage in the first year, the Diploma in the second and the MSc in the third. It is also possible to enrol for individual modules on a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) basis.

This course is ideal for students who possess an undergraduate honours degree in any discipline. Other qualifications and experience will be considered with entry being subject to the University’s judgement that the person has reasonable expectation of being able to fulfil the requirements of the award.
