In recent decades the markets of the European Community became more important as a destination for British exports. Further business opportunities are opening up in Eastern Europe as a consequence of the new enlargement of the EU.

More and more aspects of domestic law are governed by European Community law and management has to adapt to a dynamic set of EU rules. Examples of these include terms of employment, public and private procurement and health standards. Therefore, the knowledge of a multitude of aspects regarding European integration is increasingly relevant to anyone working and living in the European Union and beyond.

The European Policy, Law and Management course contributes to filling the gaps in this area by providing a multidisciplinary postgraduate degree in the three key topics of European Union Policy, Law and Management.

The student on this programme will gain the following:

enhanced career advancement opportunities
in depth practical knowledge of European policy, law and management
practical input from specialist guest speakers
an opportunity to carry out a chosen research project on up to date European matters.

Course Aims
The aim of this course is to provide an educational programme facilitating employment in a number of contexts, especially for those who seek a career working in European offices and management, or with the European Community bureaucracy. Specific aims of the course are:

apply a range of analytical and enterprise skills
analyse management and organisational policies
analyse European Community policy and practice
synthesise information both orally and in written presentation

The course is flexible, with exit awards after years 1 and 2 in face-to-face study mode. There may also be an option to study part-time online via the Virtual Campus.
