'' The aim of this course is to provide students with an appreciation of the received and potential impact of e-commerce on business models. Specific objectives are to emphasise the development of effective Internet strategies for traditional as well as pure-play businesses, and to provide a framework for identifying and addressing the key issues important to an effective Internet strategy.

Syllabus

A framework for e-commerce, including basic Web technology and the fundamental elements of Web-based business
Strategy formulation for Internet business, including Modules of new business model development, customer relationships, branding and strategy implementation
The technology infrastructure and its growth and development �pressures towards online trading and collaborative models
Media transformation in usage and potential �the impact of public policy and regulation
Considerations of the interface between society and the Internet, e.g. privacy concerns
Planning an Internet venture.
On completion of this course students will be able to:

Identify the critical business issues facing an Internet venture and evaluate them.
Construct a rigorous strategic plan for an Internet venture, addressing issues both for multi-channeling to enhance a traditional business model and for the pure-play Web based business.
