'' The aims of the MSc in Managing Organisational Performance are to:
Provide students with a thorough understanding of the theories, principles and tools that can be used to manage organisational performance; Equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to significantly enhance organisational performance; Satisfy the growing, recognised need for performance management specialists who can help organisations extract insight from data and inform decision making processes; Develop research skills so that the student is able to conduct independent research into an aspect of organisational performance in a business context. On successful completion of the programme, you will:
Be able to demonstrate a critical awareness of current research within the field of Performance Management in order to be able to critically assess the design, management, measurement and review of organisational performance; Have developed a level of conceptual thinking that will enable you to describe, evaluate and apply underpinning theories of organisational performance; Be able to acquire and use information effectively by developing a comprehensive understanding of the analytical techniques applicable to managing organisational performance; Be able to apply the key principles taught on the course to a wide range of organisations across all sectors and in a context of advanced scholarship; Have developed a critique of the issues in managing change and be able to apply this learning to improving organisational performance Have developed independent learning abilities and advanced your analytical skills through the interpretation of data collected in the research project. Problem solving, communication skills and other abilities
A student will be able to:
Critically analyse theory in order to apply the learning to practice; Apply problem solving skills working on group based projects, by developing their data gathering and data analysis techniques; Influence and negotiate through enhanced communication skills, developed through report writing and presentations; Exploit IT packages for both data analysis and presentation; Exercise initiative in developing and scoping suitable projects and carrying them out in a real world context; Gather and use information across and between functional areas in order to provide internal and external consultancy. ...''
