'' This course is designed for those seeking an understanding of organisations in the current environment, and wishing to develop practical skills assisting in leading and managing people more effectively. It examines leadership and management practices, past and present. These ideas are used to assist in realising individual abilities and potential in real work situations. Participants are encouraged to apply and test these ideas in the workplace and evaluate them in the light of individual experience. Thecourse encourages professional and personal development through action learning that is relevant and transferable to the circumstances of real organisations.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate some of the abilities and qualities of leadership (position of leadership, captain of sporting team, or organiser of a special interest group), have at least three years work experience in at least one organisation, and be personally motivated to play a role as a leader in the Western Australian, Australian or international community. Letters of recommendation are required from leaders in business, government and/or the community and support from a sponsoring organisation indicating the potential of the candidate to have some leadership role over the next five years. Completion of an undergraduate degree is normally expected for admission. Applicants who are highly recommended, have outstanding leadership potential, motivation and can demonstrate that they have the capacity to undertake graduate study. Applicants are required to submit referee reports and a CV. Interviews may also be required. Applicants with three or more years of relevant work experience, and who have completed a graduate qualification in the last three years, or who have completed four units of the Graduate Certificate in Business with an average grade of 70 per cent or better, will be offered entry into this course.
