Course Description:

'' This course is designed for applicants wanting the relevant knowledge and skills required for career advancement and management positions in the services, tourism and hospitality industry in Australia and overseas. The course also provides industry experienced management staff without a first degree the opportunity to acquire a formal qualification in that discipline.

Students study units in advanced topics in tourism management, facilities and operations management, business research methods and a business dissertation unit. Optional units such as human resource management, managerial leadership, management processes and policies, legal environment, communication in organisations, tourism and event marketing, administrative management, hospitality industry management, professional practice, tourism economics, sustainable tourism management, tourism management impacts and influences, events management, innovative organisations and travel and tourism law are offered.

Course Entry Requirements / Prerequisites
Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree in business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution, provided that the specific discipline in the Bachelor Degree is different to the specific discipline of the proposed Professional Masters or a Bachelor Degree in a field other than business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution or Honours degree or Graduate Diploma (in business, economics or commerce) or significant professional experience. Note that the student may be required to complete additional foundation units at the discretion of the appropriate Academic Program Area Head.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time. Some units are available during the evening. International students studying in Australia on a student visa can only study in full-time mode.
