Faculty The Management Schools international student body is supported by 60+ teaching staff drawn from 16 different countries. The Business School Network The Alumni, Careers and Corporate Relations Network (ACCORN) provides career management and personal development as well as co-ordinating the Schools external relationships. This network includes leading business figures who are regular contributors to individual courses, as well as forming the basis of the visiting speakers programme. Several leading figures are also appointed as visiting Faculty members, such as Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board. Their teaching and informal contact with students provides direct insight into current management and business practice.
The Schools numerous research centres are all contributors to local, national and international organisations, and include leading business figures as well as academics in their work. The School regularly organises and plays host to national and international conferences.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the Schools knowledge network is the alumni body. Alumni are encouraged to integrate into the life of the School in many ways including acting as advisors or returning as speakers. Contact between students and alumni within specific companies and industry sectors is facilitated for course projects, dissertation research or career advice. Students and prospective students can learn about the successes of alumni in the MBA alumni magazine, Aluminate, and will automatically become members of the 3,500-strong alumni community upon graduation.
The Network plans and delivers the Career & Personal Development Programme which forms part of the Edinburgh MBA. This programme is designed to help students develop and attain realistic career goals, refine their skills-based competencies, as well as assisting organisations to recruit Edinburgh students.
