'' takes a range of academic viewpoints, including management, organisation studies, policy studies and economics, in dealing with its subject matter. This includes organisational structures, managing government operations and public service delivery, executive leadership in government, and, particularly, public management policy.

Those successfully completing the programme

learn how to analyse processes of administrative reform and modernisation, drawing on methods of analysing policy change
understand similarities and differences among recent experiences with public management reform and modernisation, drawing on comparative research and the impact of the international environment
understand the various processes, procedures and practices for effective leadership and management of public sector organisations
learn essential concepts and knowledge related to public sector organisations
develop a critical awareness of the social impact of public management choices and decisions
develop as reflective practitioners
The dissertation allows students to explore an issue in public sector management in considerable depth.
