Course Description:

'' The programme has a modular structure and consists of three elements: core courses, a specialisation, and a research project. Students can choose up to a maximum of five modules to study each year. Due to the demanding nature of the modules, however, we would advise that you do not attempt more than three in any one year. Students are registered with the Imperial College for four years.

The study year begins in early September, and continues until the exams in mid-May. All modules follow this study year. You will be sent a comprehensive study pack for each course. The package includes:

a detailed Study guide that includes exercises, assignments and other activities, which will take you through your programme of self-directed study
Books and other published materials together with integrated volumes of readings drawn from a wide range of sources
Supplementary study materials eg lectures on CD Rom
Over the year, you have access to an On-line Learning Environment (WebCT). Here you can discuss your studies with your tutors and other students by posting and answering questions on-line. For each module, you also submit two assignments (worth 20%) of the total mark and receive feedback from your tutors.

Research Project
A further opportunity to develop specialised expertise is provided by the project. The subject and scope of your project is your decision, subject to approval from your supervisor. Many projects are similar to a consultancy assignment for a company but are expected to make effective use of management principles, models, concepts and techniques.

The project represents the equivalent of two to three months’ work culminating in a formal report of up to 20,000 words. Work on the project takes place in the final year and must be completed by the end of May. You will be assigned a supervisor by the Tanaka Business School who will be available for consultation and guidance.
