'' At Kent Business School, we have specially designed the Accounting and Finance degree to ensure it responds to the needs and expectations of the modern accountancy profession.



Accountants are probably best known for checking the validity of company accounts ’auditing’ but that is not all they do. They also devise and operate financial systems, conduct investment analysis, advise on business start-ups, company takeovers and company rescue schemes. They handle individuals and corporations tax affairs and make recommendations to Government on policy. At Kent our supportive and flexible approach to teaching gives you the confidence and skills you need to follow the path that most interests you.



Wide-ranging study
The University of Kent’s Accounting and Finance programmes (both single honours and others) offer exemptions from the examinations of the professional accountancy bodies. But the programmes are not just designed for accountants. At Kent you gain a broad academic education with an emphasis on key skills (including numeracy, oral and written communication, group work and computing). In addition, there is a wide range of accounting and finance options that may be selected for final year study thereby allowing the development of specialist knowledge.



We give you a broad-based education that will equip you for a range of careers within the world of business.



First-class teaching
You are taught by specialist accounting staff, many of whom hold accountancy qualifications, and by lecturers who have experience in a wide range of management disciplines. At Kent Business School we pride ourselves on the strength of our global connections. A year abroad
Those studying Accounting and Finance with French Business Studies, British and French Accounting and Finance or Accounting and Finance with German can spend their third year at a university in France or Germany (for example, the University of Lyons III) studying for a relevant qualification.

Many of our staff have considerable managerial and professional experience gained in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world. This experience benefits all our students as it is input directly into the School’s teaching and research. Staff research interests are broad, and receive recognition both nationally and internationally.

Professional recognition

Six months after graduation in July 2005, only 2.8% of students were without a job or study opportunity and according to The Sunday Times University Guide, Kent is one of the top ten universities in the country for jobs after graduation.
