'' Some of the most difficult and challenging problems in industry and commerce are associated with software development. If you are a computing professional and would like to increase your theoretical knowledge of software engineering and practical skills in software development, this course is ideal. It will equip you with an advanced knowledge of the latest methods and tools for software engineering, enabling you to choose and follow an approach to software development that delivers the optimum result in terms of cost, time and software quality. At the end of the course you will have the skills to make an effective contribution as part of a team building software systems.

What you will study
You will study state-of-the-art concepts in software engineering and look at the links between ICT implementation and people issues. You will learn to create and build cost-effective software solutions to business and other types of problems. You will focus on the fundamental concepts and principles of software engineering, and have an opportunity to improve your practical skills. You will also gain an understanding of and ability to design complex evolving systems and learn how to integrate them into industry and the business environment. A Research Methods module prepares you for work on your project/dissertation, which is usually industrially linked and can be either research or development based.
