Course Description:

'' The Music Composition MA is ideal if you are a professional acoustic or electroacoustic composer wanting to develop your skills further. It encompasses a variety of styles, including popular music, jazz, contemporary and experimental music. You will produce a folio of compositions of at least 15 minutes in length and have the opportunity for your music to be performed by experienced musicians.

What you will study
You will study recording techniques and principles of composition, and analyse contemporary works. You will take part in practical workshops and will compose music to be performed by the ensemble in residence. You will also look at professionalism in composition, notation, instrumentation and critical approaches to composition. You can also choose to focus on studio composition exploring models of sound synthesis, sound sampling and manipulation, computer-assisted composition, scoring and documentation of studio-based composition, analysis of electroacoustic composition and practical studio composition.
