'' This is a new variant of Lancaster’s successful MSc in Operational Research (OR) that has run for over 40 years. It is ideal for you if you wish to work on logistics and supply chain problems to support decision making in organisations. On the programme, we emphasise the practical analytical aspects of logistics problems as well as the fundamentals of management science and supply chain management.
Who is it for? You should have, or be expecting, a first degree that includes some mathematics and statistics; for example, science, engineering, business studies or economics, as well as mathematics or statistics. Under the EPSRC Collaborative Training Account (CTA) scheme we offer funding to well-qualified applicants.
What will I study? The MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is a flexible degree scheme in which you choose subjects that interest you and also attend compulsory core modules. The programme prepares you to use your analytical skills in logistics and supply chain management. You will develop modelling skills in Excel and will cover topics such as strategic supply chain management, manufacturing management, public sector analysis and logistics modelling. In addition you take courses in problem solving and consulting, report writing, group work and presentations �common to all the Management Science MSc programmes.
Will it prepare me for work? The taught element of the programme includes modules that help you to improve your professional skills as well as your analytical abilities. The taught modules end in May and are followed by a significant real life project that runs until mid-September. In this, you will develop professional skills by working for 16 weeks as a consultant to one of our client companies, whilst being supervised by a member of staff. This is an excellent preparation for the world of work.
There is a large demand for logistics and supply chain analysts with good modelling skills. Graduates from this course can expect to work as logistics analysts, supply chain analysts, business consultants, business analysts and database managers.
What about further study? The MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management can also serve as a springboard for further study for a PhD.
