'' Rapid development in communication and transportation technologies together with the drive towards both a global market for employment and for products and services has created new opportunities and threats for businesses of all sizes. On this popular course you will focus on the global context of work and global marketplace for goods and services.

You will develop your knowledge of the concepts, issues and practices of international business.You will explore the complexity and challenges of this business environment. The course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the theories that inform contemporary international business practice.

This professional postgraduate programme is designed to produce managers and executives whose theoretical and practical expertise prepares them for the challenges of modern business. Our lecturing staff are enthusiasts, involved with consultancy projects and many are well known for their pioneering work in academia and industry. We offer a regular programme of guest lectures by prominent speakers on key issues in business and marketing. The Business and Management group achieved grade 22 (Excellent) for teaching quality from the QAA. We are conveniently located on a stunning modern campus, less than 30 minutes by tube from the centre of London.

Programme Content:
The course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the theories that inform contemporary international business practice. Your decision-making abilities will be developed in the context of complex business environments and you develop your ability to participate in different areas of organisations international operations. This course will also give you the necessary knowledge and skills to enable you manage people and organisational activities in dynamic business environments and manage products and services in international markets
Compulsory

International Business Management
You will be introduced to the theoretical frameworks for analysing international business and developing international business strategies. You will develop a critical appreciation of the impact of the international environment of international business as well as an understanding of key issues relating to the complexity of managing international operations. You also develop advanced abilities of critical and independent thinking, decision making and problem solving.

Quantitative Analysis for Managers
The principle goal of this module is to enable a future manager to work productively in a dual mode: firstly, as an analyst who is able (a) to isolate and categorise a quantitative problem, (b) formulate an appropriate decision model and then (c) use that model to generate output to aid decision making; and secondly, as a user who commissions a study or uses results arising from them.

Dissertation

Optional - choose two from the following:

Globalisation and work
You examine new ways of working and new production paradigms in an internationalised economy, expressed through country and sectoral case studies. Particular attention is focused on debates and controversies surrounding corporate social responsibility and international labour standards.

Employment Systems and the Global Economy
You will explore the ongoing changes in the ways in which productive activity is controlled, managed and regulated and you focus on the global forces which are transforming economic control systems at every level.

International and Cross cultural Marketing
You gain an understanding of the key dimensions of international marketing environment, and their influence on corporations choice of alternative international marketing strategies, organisation and control of international operations. You will engender a cross-cultural understanding of consumers/markets beyond national boundaries by exploring the relationships between cultural variables and human behaviour and their implications for marketers from a cultural and cross-cultural perspective, focusing on both theory and application. You have the opportunity to develop the skills, perspectives and cross-cultural awareness to become a future marketer and business leader in our increasingly competitive global arena.

Contemporary Marketing Strategy
You will be taught the framework for analysing marketing processes from a strategic and managerial perspective in a diverse range of organisations. The module focuses especially on the development and implementation of marketing strategies in order to gain a competitive advantage in a highly volatile environment.
