Web-Based Information Systems Management
The business strategy of an organisation should be supported by an Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT) strategy. This module explores how to strategically plan for these systems. You¿ll examine the different types of information systems used in organisations and the underlying technologies used.
With the Internet as a primary business tool e-commerce is now part of the business model and the driving force behind e-commerce is data management systems. The module covers the fundamentals of organising web-driven data, online client/server data transaction technologies, and applying web-based interfaces for data extraction.
The module provides practical and theoretical knowledge of the Internet. You learn how to design and develop interactive webpages using HTML, JavaScript and asp.net, how to present structured information in valid XML documents and how to transform them into HTML using XSL style sheets.

Information Systems Quality Management
Engineering good quality software products requires a controlled and managed development process. Managing the complexity of organisations and the complexity and proliferation of information systems (and their many failures) demands specialised skills. In particular, quality assurance engineers, project and systems managers and auditors need the ability to monitor and assess both the software process and software artefacts in order to provide guidance and leadership for their improvement. The quality manager also needs to have the knowledge and skills for evaluation and selection of appropriate process models, methods, tools and human factors. This module gives you those skills. Coursework for this module will include both individual and group work.

Regulations of Electronic Commerce and Information Technology
This module focuses exclusively on legal and regulatory (including ethical/professional) issues related to electronic commerce and the use of information technology. There is an increasing body of law and regulation which impact on information and communication technologies and electronic commerce and this module informs you of the regulatory frameworks and the underlying legal principles. You critically examine the role of regulation in the commercial context of electronic transactions. You cover legal and regulatory issues related to intellectual property, conducting business online, privacy, and jurisdiction. You also look at regulation in the broader context of professional and ethical issues relevant to the use of information technology.

Knowledge Management Strategies
Draw upon the latest knowledge management strategies to learn how organisations can develop effective knowledge management programmes that exploit and nurture human, structural, social, relationship and intellectual capital. You explore and create knowledge ecosystems to maintain a competitive advantage in knowledge driven economies.
Various lecture, presentation and action learning and teaching techniques are used to enrich your learning experiences and to support mastering individual and team skills required for the development of organisational learning and knowledge management strategies. Through your portfolio you can research organisational learning and knowledge management topics while group coursework lets you gain hands-on practice for evaluating a knowledge management programme in an organisation.
