'' The online MSc in Tourism and Travel Management programme aims to develop a broad understanding of a range of management principles and practices as they apply in the tourism and travel industries.
The programme is specifically designed for online delivery. You will be taught and assessed through a combination of media, including e-mail, computer conferencing and the internet.
The programme can be taken in three stages:
Postgraduate Certificate - passes in six modules (including all four core modules). Postgraduate Diploma - passes in twelve modules (including all four core modules). Full MSc - passes in all four core modules, eight application modules and the dissertation. The course focuses on all aspects of tourism management, including managing people, managing financial resources, market research, marketing and strategy, e-business, tourism policy and planning, cultural and heritage tourism, consumer behaviour, sustainability and service delivery.
A broad mix of study resources A variety of online learning media support the course. Throughout your studies you will be a member of a tutor group of up to 20 fellow students. You will work with this group throughout your course-discussing the programme materials, collaborating on group tasks, participating in group exercises and generally supporting each other. In effect, you will be part of a learning community with common goals and aspirations.
One-on-one support Tutors who specialize in the theory and practice of Tourism and Travel Management will support you and your group. They will act as mentors and provide you with personal guidance. The University will also provide a comprehensive range of administrative and general support services throughout your course.
Your work will be marked and returned to you with detailed comments and advice. You will find this comprehensive personal feedback one of the most valuable aspects of your study.
Weekly programme Each week you will take part in a range of activities. Private study will include reading materials provided online and you will often need to undertake independent research.Group activities will be timetabled into the week and will last for a number of days to let you participate at times that suit you. A typical small group study might involve a task or exercises linked to the theme of the week. A group discussion will bring students together in a larger group to discuss or debate set questions. Your tutor will provide full guidance and support.
When you complete the course you will receive an award from The University of Nottingham. This has exactly the same internationally recognised status as the equivalent programme studied at the University.
You can achieve the full MSc in just over two years, which will give you the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the management and marketing of tourism in the private or public sectors, for direct providers, for government, or for consultancy and support agencies. You will also have the necessary research skills to undertake further study if you want to.
This is a conversion course. It is designed specifically for students with a non-relevant first degree who want to develop an understanding of management principles in an applied context.

Structure Most modules are assessed by a combination of examination and project work/course work. Core Modules Application Modules Destination Management Developing E-Tourism Heritage and Cultural Tourism Service Quality in Travel and Tourism Sustainable Tourism Tourism and Travel Marketing Tourism Policy and Planning Understanding the Tourism Consumer Dissertation (60 credits).
