'' This course considers the management of international resource allocation and investment, both externally via the capital markets and lending institutions, and internally within the organisation. With regard to external finance and investment, you will consider investment in organisations in the context of the global economy and the economic, political, regulatory and corporate governance aspects of investment. With regard to internal finance and investment, you will examine how finance is allocated within organisations, viewing the organisation as a collection of investment centres.

This course is part of a specialist programme designed for managers in industry and commerce who want to broaden their perspectives by adding international accounting and finance knowledge and wider management skills. The programme is aimed at people already having a basic knowledge of accounting and finance and who wish to extend and update their knowledge base.

B854 introduces you to managing resource allocation and investment both externally via the capital markets and lending institutions, and internally within the organisation. The first part of the course considers organisations in the context of the global economy and discusses such issues as raising finance and treasury management. The second part examines how finance is allocated within organisations and covers issues such as project appraisal, management control, performance measurement and corporate governance. The perspective throughout the course is international, with the focus on MNCs.
