Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Guildford full-time programme The programme aims to develop analytical abilities, using concepts derived from a wide range of academic disciplines, directed towards business problem solving in an international environment. It provides students with managerial competence in a variety of applied skills. Students will be encouraged to reflect and build upon their previous experience and should integrate this experience with more advanced knowledge, understanding and skills that are central to effective leadership at middle and senior management level.
Programme content The MBA curriculum provides students with a deeper understanding of management principles whilst studying a breadth of subjects. The programme has been designed to deliver core modules in sufficient depth so as to allow the student to develop the ability to critically evaluate the individual subject matter. Some elective modules further explore the depth of a subject covered in the core curriculum whilst others are designed to integrate the knowledge from across the core curriculum. Whilst studying the core curriculum, students will undertake a live case study, the findings of which will be integrated into the core curriculum and all core modules. Research methods is a key core module enabling the student to analyse and evaluate both properly and critically all aspects covered by the curriculum.
Integrative Business Simulation / Action Case Learning (compulsory) The aims of this module are to provide students with an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge gained in core modules to real world cases. It provides an opportunity and challenge to understand the complex inter-relationship between theory and practice - to explore the extent to which theoretical models developed in the core modules can be applied in practical situations, to explore the extent to which organisations are aware of and apply theoretical perspectives as well as examining the validity of some of the models that have been applied in the real world. There are two combined elements to this approach: a complex computer based interactive business simulation and a series of real life case provided by external business contacts.
Assessment Assessments are mainly based on practical business-related contemporary issues or case studies. They test your ability to apply what you have learned to real situations.
The Business Research Project is the final assignment of the programme. It provides you with the opportunity to consolidate your knowledge acquired throughout the programme and specialise in a subject or sector of special interest to you. Some students carry out their Business Research Project in their own organisation or in an industry within which they have career aspirations.
Industry links Students benefit from the School of Managements regular contact with industry, governments and international organisations which ensures that programmes retain direct relevance to the needs of industry and potential employers. Productive partnerships are being constantly established and developed with industries across the globe, especially in the service sector. These include visiting appointments with senior personnel of multinational organisations.
