'' The food industry is an exciting field in which to work. It is diverse in its nature, and given the nature of the products presents very particular challenges to those within it. It is also an industry which will always exist!
The programme equips future managers within the food sector with both the generic management skills and the subject specific knowledge that they will need to succeed. Through selection of optional modules and the research topic of the dissertation, students can tailor their studies to their particular areas of interest.

The stream leaders have worked in the food industry, as well as being experienced teachers. In addition, invited lecturers from industry and other organisations, and visits form an important part of the course. For instance, students spend a day shadowing environmental health officers as they carry out hygiene inspections of premises. Such approaches give students first hand accounts or experience of the reality of working in this exciting and dynamic industry.

The programme has a business management orientation related to the food industry. It has a strong management core, with subject specific modules supplying the knowledge of this particular sector. Students are able to tailor their studies to their particular area of interest through selection of optional modules and the research topic chosen for their dissertation.

This MSc is offered on a full time basis over one year.

Candidates for the MSc are required to successfully complete eight taught modules (120 credits) plus a dissertation (60 credits)

By studying the eight taught modules and producing a dissertation students will gain excellent generic management skills and subject specific knowledge to equip them for a career in service sector management and beyond.
