'' The School is recognised as a key Education and Training centre by the World Tourism Organisation (W.T.O.) and was the first UK centre to receive TedQual certification from the W.T.O. for both its undergraduate and postgraduate tourism courses.


The Postgraduate Diploma/MSc programme in Tourism Management at Surrey is one of the longest established University programmes in tourism in the world. The first students joined the course in 1972 and since then many have gone on to occupy senior positions in industry, government bodies and academia in many different parts of the world.

The programme aims to provide an in depth analysis of what has become one of the world’s largest industries. It gives an opportunity to develop academic skills and knowledge. At the same time it maintains a practical focus on the rapidly developing tourism industry.

The structure of the programme allows plenty of choice for a range of modules so that participants can focus on those areas and topics that are of most interest to them and have most relevance to their future careers.

It also aims to provide a high quality, vocational education that is intellectually rigorous and up-to-date as well as relevant to the needs of existing and future managers, executives and other professionals in tourism.

It takes a broad view of tourism and provides an opportunity to explore issues and problems relevant to a wide range of situations and aspects likely to be faced by managers and other professionals in the area.
