'' Our MA in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management course will give you a thorough understanding of all aspects of employment relations and the management of human resources. It will help you to critically examine key institutions and address contemporary issues.

You will focus on the UK within a broader comparative framework, drawing on a range of disciplinary perspectives. Explore the future of work and employment, from the rights and interests of employees to the relationship between people management and organisational competitiveness.

You can also gain the graduate qualification of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) as part of the course, which can help you get a head start in a career in HRM. You will need to take additional modules and usually complete a work placement. Additional fees apply.

This course will provide you with an excellent grounding in both the theory and practice of employment relations. It will be relevant to you whether you want to work in personnel, or general management, unions, consultancy, or research. Recognised by the ESRC, the course provides an excllent footing for going on to doctoral research.

The MA in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management consists of:

Four or five core modules
One or two elective modules
A dissertation.
Modules are assessed primarily by written assignments, with examinations taken if you do not meet the required standard in those assignments. Class presentations form part of the assessment in some modules. CIPD route students do additional assessments including unseen tests.
