'' The MA journalism is a one year course recognised by the UK’s main industry training boards.

Each year the MA journalism attracts an excellent group of lively students from the UK and around the world.

Completion of the MA Journalism includes the automatic award of the Postgraduate Diploma in journalism, which is a professional and vocational rather than a purely academic qualification.

Careers in Journalism

The course culminates in extended periods of work attachment and the production of an award-winning live news and features website closely modelled on BBC News Online.

Students in recent years have won individual and group awards and commendations such as the PTC student magazine of the year, The Press Gazette student magazine of the year, student online journalist of the year, BJTC radio and television broadcast journalism students of the year and BBC student investigative journalist of the year.

Recent graduates have gone on to work for BBC radio, BBC Worldwide, BBC News 24, Sky TV, BBC news online, Russian State Television, The South China Morning Post, The Sun, Guardian Unlimited, Elle magazine, a host of UK and international magazines and local newspapers as well as national UK newspapers such as the Guardian, Financial Times and the Daily Telegraph.

Validation by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (broadcast journalism pathway) and Peridoicals Training Council (periodicals pathway) enables students to take part in work attachments and internships at major UK broadcasters and publishers such as the BBC and national newspaper and magazine groups.
