Course Description:
'' The aim of the course is to provide a detailed understanding of the property development and appraisal process encompassing the financial, physical, legal and social aspects. Students will analyse development situations and respond to particular development problems with derived solutions. Students will be able to critically appraise options and independently evaluate alternative courses of action.
Course Content

Teaching and Assessment Teaching sessions will comprise a mixture of lectures, tutorials and seminars, there will be a mixture of individual and group work within modules as appropriate to the learning outcomes, a large amount of work will be study and project based. Students will be expected to undertake work outside of timetabled sessions.
Assessment is on a modular basis with students being required to pass the core and option modules. The outline of each module is available in the programme together with the assessment criteria and method. In general assessment is by coursework, which may include presentations, portfolios and both individual and team working.
Facilities Learning support includes the Library which, across its four sites, holds 420,000 volumes, 2,500 journal subscriptions and numerous electronic resources including databases, e-journals, CD-ROMs and internet links. There are over 3500 computers spread over the four University campuses available for students use. The University uses a Virtual Learning Environment called Blackboard where students can access course materials and communicate with staff and other students via message boards.
At University level, Services for Students provide advice and guidance on accommodation, financial and legal matters, personal counselling, health and disability issues, careers and the chaplaincy providing multi-faith guidance. The International Education Office provides particular support for international students. The University of Westminster Students?Union also provides a range of facilities to support all students during their time at the University.
The School of Architecture and the Built Environment also operates a project support centre on second floor of the Marylebone Campus which contains a range of resources and is staffed to assist students with projects and specific learning directions.
Associated Careers The programme is well suited to those looking for a career in the urban environment, or those employed in the field looking for an additional qualification.
Entry Requirements Standard entry requirements are as follows: 1) Holding a degree (normally at least second class) from a British University or one of comparable standing Or 2) membership of a recognised professional body whose entry requirements are equivalent to graduate level and who have completed two years of relevant practical experience
For those whose first degree is not in a subject assessed using the English language, they will need to demonstrate proficiency in English, normally demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
For the MSc Real Estate Development there is no restriction on the discipline of the first degree, it is well suited to further study by those with a first degree in geography, economics, a traditional science, a property related discipline or law. For those whose first degree and other qualifications are not so well aligned the course team may require further evidence of the ability to study the subject material as deemed appropriate. ...''
