'' The goal of this course is to help students comprehend the theoretical concepts and intervention techniques in the field of family therapy. Patterns of developmental and societal changes that impact families will also be studied. Students will acquire basic knowledge of the concepts of family systems theory and utilize these concepts in developing hypotheses as to possible treatment planning for dysfunctional families. The range and types of therapeutic interventions that are common to family therapy and family systems approaches will be addressed with particular emphasis on communications, structural, and strategic family therapy concepts and methods. Students will be prepared with entry professional skills for supervised interventions with families.
