'' Students seeking admission to the University of New England undergraduate and graduate programs needing English as a Second Language (ESL) assistance may choose to enroll in an Intensive English Language Program (IELP) prior to gaining full admission. UNE is currently working with the University of Southern Maine’s Intensive English Language Program (IELP) in Portland, Maine as one of the options for applicants to gain the English language support prior to enrollment in a UNE undergraduate or graduate program.

The USM IELP program is offered through a 4-week session during the summer and 15-week sessions throughout the academic year. Students will be able to learn from qualified instructors in small classes located in a safe environment on an American university campus.

Applicants interested in this ESL option may also have the opportunity to enjoy all of the UNE campus facilities available on our Westbrook College Campus in Portland, Maine through a special joint enrollment option. Facilities available for your use, include: campus center, computer labs, counseling services, fitness and recreation center, dinning hall, library, residence halls, and student activities.
