'' Students will learn the activities performed by a transcriptionist in a law firm or other legal setting where documents are to be converted from the spoken word to printed form. While the course specifically prepares students to transcribe the most common legal documents, it also equips them with the perspective and capacity for decision-making they will need later to adapt their knowledge and skills to any situation they encounter in a law office.

Correctly spell and understand legal terms as they are transcribed
Develop key legal documents in an acceptable format
Punctuate sentences in legal documents
Learn proofreading techniques to proofread legal documents for spelling punctuation, formatting, and content
Learn legal office procedures as they pertain to legal transcription activities
Use legal references effectively.
