'' Insurance Billing Specialists are professionals that prepare, submit, and/or process insurance claims for doctor’s offices, hospitals, extended care facilities, diagnostic centers, insurance companies, and other health related facilities.

The courses offered in the Insurance Billing Specialist certificate program will provide students with the necessary skills for proficiency in all aspects of insurance billing including charge entry, CPT and ICD-9 coding, electronic insurance claim submission and collections. Students will also acquire proficiency in Medical Terminology, Pharmacology and Health Information Management.

Professional settings that offer career opportunities to the Insurance Billing Specialist include: outpatient clinics, physicians�offices, medical laboratories, insurance companies, skilled nursing facilities, home health care agencies, and independent billing agencies.
About the Program

Due to the high demand for qualified Third Party Billing Specialists, Massasoit Community College is pleased to announce their new Certificate Program being offered at the Canton Campus.

Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning each September. Fall classes include: Anatomy and Terminology for Medical Coders, which are held Tuesday evenings, and Introduction to Health Insurance Billing and Coding which are held on Thursday evenings.

Spring classes are also held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Spring classes include Pharmacology and Introduction to Medical Records and Health Information Technology.
