'' Elementary Chinese I is the beginning course of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It is the first semester in first-year modern Standard Chinese. This course introduces elementary Mandarin pronunciation, grammar, and orthography (in both Pinyin and characters) from the most basic level. Elementary Chinese II consists of three classroom meetings per week, plus one lab session. Offered Fall semester.
Elementary Chinese II is a course of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It is the second semester of a two-semester sequence in first-year modern Standard Chinese. This course continues to introduce elementary Mandarin pronunciation, grammar, and orthography (in both Pinyin and characters) to students who have completed the course of Elementary Chinese I or its equivalent. Elementary Chinese II consists of three classroom meetings per week, plus one lab session. Offered Spring semester.
