Course Description:

'' Fashion Marketing and Merchandising at Gulf Coast is a program of study designed to provide specialized instruction in many phases of the fashion industry. Classroom instruction is combined with hands-on learning experiences. Students may visit local employers in the retail industry to observe day-to-day operations and participate in classroom discussions with experts in the fashion field when guest lecturers visit the college.

Students can expect to study fashion design and application, management, retail sales promotions, and advertising. Additional study will be completed in methods of the merchandising process, basic principles of salesmanship, and the marketing of goods and services. Special emphasis is placed on direct application of skills through a one-semester internship in a fashion setting. Students will research different areas of the company while they receive on-the-job training. The fashion marketing program provides training in these areas and others leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
