Course Description:
'' This intensive program prepares students to enter the nursing career ladder as a licensed practical nurse who can use the nursing process to care for patients and families. This care is performed under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or dentist. The Practical Nursing program is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Students who complete the program requirements, as identified by the Mississippi Department of Education, will be eligible to apply for LPN Licensure from the Mississippi Board of Nursing and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
Admission to the Practical Nursing program is limited on each of the three campus sites. Candidates must complete a special application process and meet all admission requirements. The Mississippi Board of Nursing has some legal limitations for eligibility for the LPN Licensure; falsification of any part of the application process is reason for dismissal. Day and/or evening clinical rotations in local hospitals and community agencies are required.
