'' The Paralegal Studies program available at CCC-Grand Island prepares students for employment as skilled professionals working under the supervision of attorneys.
Employment for paralegals is expected to grow by more than 27 percent through 2014, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Paralegals help lawyers prepare for closings, hearings and trials; identify judicial decisions and other material relevant to assigned cases; collect, analyze and organize information; do legal research; help prepare legal arguments; draft pleadings and motions and help draft contracts, mortgages, separation agreements, and instruments of trust.
The CCC associate of applied science degree in Paralegal Studies provides a well-rounded education in the paralegal profession. A core of paralegal, business administration and business technology courses provides a solid foundation for paralegal students, who then have the opportunity to choose a focus in one of the following areas:
Criminal Law
Estate Administration
Family Law
Real Estate
A diploma program provides entry-level knowledge in the paralegal field, and a certificate option provides continuing education in specialized areas of substantive law.
