'' Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration workers are skilled technicians who install, maintain and repair a wide range of equipment used to control temperature, humidity and air quality.
The number of jobs in this field is expected grow from 18 to 24 percent through 2014, according to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Job prospects in this field are expected to be very good, particularly for those with training in the latest equipment and technology.
As the population and economy grow, so does the demand for new residential, commercial and industrial climate control systems. In addition, regulations banning the use of old refrigerants are creating a demand for workers to replace many existing systems or modify them to use new environmentally safe refrigerants.
The Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program is available at CCC-Hastings.
The program covers all aspects of this industry and also provides students the opportunity to specialize in heating and air conditioning, residential refrigeration or commercial refrigeration.
The associate of applied science degree program provides the hands-on technical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for employment in this career field.
The 32-semester-hour diploma provides solid hands-on skills and knowledge needed for employment in service and installation jobs.
