'' Machinists are highly skilled technicians who use a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and drill presses, to cut, bore, stamp or otherwise form metal parts to precise specifications.
Central Community College offers a machine tool technology program at its campuses in Columbus and Hastings. Courses are offered at CCC-Grand Island as part of the industrial technology program.
Students in the associate of applied science degree program learn basic machine tool skills and complete advanced courses in one of three specialized areas: general machinist, plastic mold making and tool and die.
Students can develop or enhance skills in one of the following areas: basic machine shop, plastic mold making, tool and die, CAD/CAM operations or manufacturing processes.
