'' Hospitality and Tourism Management is an Associate of Applied Science degree program designed to prepare you for a career in the hospitality and tourism industry. After obtaining your associate degree, you may elect to transfer your coursework to a university in order to obtain a four-year degree. Your curriculum at Mt. Hood Community College will include instruction and training in hotel, travel, recreation, tourism, culinary arts, food service, convention and meeting planning and related service industries.

Your success will come from your preparation and our mentorship. In addition to formal instruction, cooperative education internships are an integral part of the program and allow for on-the-job experiences in a wide variety of settings and occupations directly related to each student’s career objectives.

Your program consists of Hospitality & Tourism Management classes, other hospitality and tourism coursework, and the general education classes needed to complete your Associate of Applied Science degree. In this program you will learn the basics of industry. You will learn how to run computer systems that are used in the hospitality and tourism industries. You will learn a whole new “language�in some courses.

Our hospitality & tourism courses and computer training have been designed to challenge you and give you the knowledge you need to be successful in any Hospitality & Tourism career path you may choose. Our goal for you is to create an atmosphere of academic excitement and the experience of instruction that is second to none.

There will be field trips to local industry businesses and companies. You will also be afforded the opportunity to receive training. At this time the culinary training is also a program option.

Additionally, students may earn a certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Management and specialize in one of the following areas: Travel and Tourism, Hotel and Resort, Convention and Meetings, Food Service Management, or Recreation and Leisure Management.
