'' Duration 3.0 Day(s) Description This course is designed to provide the student with the ability to describe the advantages of DB2 Federated Technology in implementing Data Warehouse and OLTP e-business solutions. The course also prepares the student to implement a multi-vendor, multi-platform Federated Database environment using DB2 UDB for UNIX, Windows and OS/2 V7.2, DB2 Connect V7.2 and DB2 Relational Connect. Audience This course is appropriate for database administrators; application programmers; data warehouse administrators; systems architects; consultants, e-business, business intelligence, application integration, system integration professionals, and all other professionals with an interest in architecting, planning and constructing an Integrated Data Warehouse and/or OLTP solution. Prerequisites Before taking this course, you should understand the basic concepts of a relational database and its usage within a business. This can be accomplished by completing IBM course CT03AU or DT03AU. Students are also expected to be able to configure DB2 clients using the DB2 Client Configuration Assistant or manual means. Alternatively, the student should be able to setup client/server connectivity for either Oracle or Microsoft SQL databases. Objectives After completing this course, you should be able to: Describe the advantages of using DB2 Federated Technology for your systems and application integration project needs Describe the architectural and product components of an integrated Data Warehouse (DW) or OLTP e-business solution related to DB2¡¯s federated database approach This includes the DB2 Relational Connect; DB2 UDB for UNIX, Windows and OS/2; and/or DB2 Connect products in addition to the back end data sources which are part of the federated environment. Using the DB2 UDB Control Center, configure an operational federated database environment between any member of the DB2 UDB Family, and supported non-IBM sources (that is, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server) Recognize key factors that influence query performance in a integrated federated database environment Use DB2s Visual Explain and DB2 monitoring tools to expose federated database performance problems Explain how to implement security to protect an integrated federated environment. ...''
