Training Course:

Media Arts & Animation

School/Trainer:

The Art Institute of Colorado
Denver, Colorado, United States

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' In school, your class notes had drawings in the margins. You were the one who was fascinated with how early cartoons were made—one painstakingly subtle illustration at a time. These days, computer animators are part visual artist, part technological architect. They use a 3D canvas to create eye-grabbing graphics in sports, medicine, education and entertainment. They spend time scrutinizing how a shadow shifts across a moving object. Media Arts & Animation is all about delivering a message with impact for a wide range of audiences. It could involve creating innovative, intriguing sports graphics, or it might be coming up with animation that educates in the fields of science or medicine. The realm of the computer animator stretches from communications specialist to storyteller. Professionals in the field are computer-savvy, but artistic. They like the element of surprise and love to entertain.

At The Art Institute of Colorado
Develop basic skills in drawing, color and basic computer applications. Study computer graphics, along with traditional animation. From there, learn how to tell a tale in storyboard and script animation courses. Become knowledgeable in background and scenic layout, plus audio and video tools and techniques. Your advanced training includes building three-dimensional models, video editing and producing audio for animation. You’ll produce complete animated projects. At the same time, learn how to create a professional résumé and interview for a job like a pro. It all culminates in portfolio class, where your own, unique digital portfolio is compiled and refined for prospective employers.

After Graduation
You’re now prepared for entry-level positions that could include assistant animator or animation inker, 3D illustrator, broadcast graphic designer, storyboard artist, special effects artist, texture mapper, renderer, 3D modeler, background artist or video-game developer. Your work will be showcased in a multitude of industries that could include advertising, law, medicine, engineering, education and game design. You could work in production and post-production studios, in corporate communications, or you might even find your own unique niche.

Become animated, and illustrate where your career will go.
