Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Duration 3.0 Day(s) Description This classroom course of three days teaches basic relational database theory, coding, creation, and maintenance of DB2 UDB for iSeries physical and logical files. It teaches many techniques that, if implemented, will enhance the performance of applications using the database. This course does not discuss the use of SQL for database management. Audience This course is designed for persons who will be responsible for creating and maintaining a DB2 UDB for iSeries database. It will also provide the necessary foundation for those persons intending to write application programs for DB2 UDB for iSeries. Prerequisites Before taking this course, a student should be able to: · Use PDM/SEU to enter source code into a source file · Use PDM to create an iSeries object from a source file member · Explain the function of Data Description Specifications (DDS) in defining files on the iSeries · Use DFU to maintain a physical file
These prerequisites can be met by successful completion of iSeries Programming Facilities Workshop (OL49AU). Objectives After completing this course, a student should be able to do the following: · Given a relational database design, code the Data Description Specifications (DDS) and create the physical and logical files necessary to implement a DB2 UDB for iSeries relational database · Describe the advantages of a field reference file, code the necessary Data Description Specifications (DDS) and create a field reference file · Explain how the choices made while coding the DDS and creating the file affect the performance of the system and the programs using the files · Understand the different ways to interface to DB2 UDB for iSeries · Describe the considerations for using DB2 UDB for iSeries referential integrity and triggers ...''
