'' National Institute for Literacy statistics reveal that nearly 32 million people in the United States speak languages other than English. More than 50% of adults learning English as a second language are Hispanic. Other common first languages of ESL participants are: French, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services offers ESL sessions at Pierce and Silver Spring Centers. Fifty-four percent (54%) of our adult learners are enrolled in this program.
