'' Ninety percent of our lives are spent in built environments �the spaces in which we eat, sleep, work, and play. Interior designers address the human issues of these places: space planning, traffic patterns, as well as the colors, surfaces, and furnishings. Every design decision is made to evoke an emotional response that will enhance the space and its intended use.

Your professional knowledge will grow through studies of form and design elements. Drafting, computer, and AutoCAD skills are added as you formulate floor plans for both residential and commercial projects. Seattle, with its blend of historical and contemporary interiors, becomes a living textbook. Visits to The Seattle Design Center and residential and commercial design studios will open your imagination as you get an insider’s view of the latest projects.

The Art Institute graduates are trained in both design and industry business fundamentals for entry-level positions with architectural and interior design firms.
