'' With this program you can become a qualified mechanical technologist. Typical job functions include: sketching, designing and drafting of mechanical components using CAD software packages. Experienced instructors teach the theory and practice necessary to produce machined parts and components. Students also learn about materials and mechanical solutions for the design and manufacture of mechanical parts and assemblies. Courses are focused in the understanding of engineering drawings and the operation and programming of industrial CNC and CAM equipment and software. In the CNC courses, students program and manufacture several metal parts of growing complexity in each semester - with instructor’s guidance but minimal direct supervision. Students get a taste of the real-world applications during a 15-week work placement following semester four. Graduates are eligible to become members of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
