Course Description:
'' This program provides the necessary technical education - along with required on-the-job training as a journeyman - to be eligible to write the government Certificate of Qualification as an industrial millwright. It enables students to concentrate on the maintenance and repair of a wide range of industrial machinery, essential for mass production. Potential students should be mechanically inclined; have good problem solving skills; enjoy working with their hands; and be in good physical condition.
Combining a hands-on training approach with up-to-date techniques in the maintenance profession, students set up, adjust, maintain, repair, overhaul, service and troubleshoot various types of machinery used in the service, supply, and process industries. Training also utilizes various packaging machines. Being in good physical condition is more important than you may realize. Mechanics use wrenches, drills and other such tools, and must be able to lift objects up to 30 pounds. They also have to climb, kneel or crouch, or stand for long periods of time.
