Course Description:

'' As a technology specialist, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to succeed in the networking/telecommunications/wireless field. Building on a solid foundation of basic electronics, this program includes: communications hardware, the latest cellular technology, wireless repair, and base station maintenance. Students learn skills and knowledge in communications networking software and hardware installation, electronic messaging, electronic conferencing and workgroup management.

The program explores features affecting security while providing practical skills for designing and implementing appropriate security control measures. Students must be prepared to analyze, plan, design, implement, enhance, maintain and audit security. They will also use and manage server operating systems such as UNIX and Windows. More than one vendor’s product line is covered as students are taught to make products work together for internetworking. Programming skills in Assembly and Java Diagnosing, and resolving hardware and software conflicts with appropriate tools are also included in the curriculum. This program also covers interpersonal communications, teamwork, and project management.

Students get hands-on experience during a field placement, and also must plan, develop, and implement a telecommunications project.
