'' Humber’s three-year program in jazz and commercial music is the biggest and longest running in Canada. Receiving international acclaim for its curriculum, faculty, and alumni, Humber is considered the school of choice for serious musicians looking for a professional career.
Incoming students major in one of the following instrument areas: bass, guitar, keyboard, drums/percussion, trombone, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, flute, violin, cello, or voice. Each student receives private lessons and will perform in approximately 40 student ensembles. Courses focus on jazz theory, history, ear training, improvisation, arranging and composition. After a common first year of music courses, students choose from three profiles: performance, arranging/composing, or general music studies.
